Inspired by Master Hsing Yun’s vision of Humanistic Buddhism and its emphasis on education, ethics, art, and culture, the Institute hosts a wide-range of research initiatives, conferences, and events that enhance our understanding of Buddhism historically and in the contemporary moment.
The gathers, digitizes, and distributes the original Sanskrit scriptures of the Buddhist tradition. The 500 texts (about 42,056 pages) that have been digitized so far are currently being used by scholars around the world. Visit for more details.
UWest is also home to The Center for the Study of Minority and Small Business (CSMSB), which links UWest with the minority and small business community by providing regular seminars, lectures, conferences, business counseling, and an annual publication. The CSMSB educates local minority and small business owners on current business realities and changing governmental regulations. CSMSB also issues an annual journal, The Minority and Small Business Review, which provides relevant information and practical education as well as information about upcoming events and programs.
